I was across the room, watching a toddler as she attempted to pour her own cup of juice. She struggled with the weight of the bottle, tried to lift it high enough to pour. Her tiny hands barely large enough to grip the bottle. The pastor was close enough to offer assistance but he did not take the juice bottle from her. Instead, he held the cup for her so the juice would flow into it. She had the satisfaction, and joy, of pouring her own juice. But, because she accepted his help, a mess was avoided.
As I watched, I thought of how life is a lot like pouring juice. If we try to do it all by ourselves we often struggle and ultimately make a mess of things. Sometimes our burdens are too heavy, or we cannot quite grasp our problems.
Ponder upon this — God doesn’t take the “juice of life” from us, but instead He is there to hold our cup so we won’t make a mess.
